This trip was one of the greatest experiences in trekking and backpacking I had so far. Nepal is a very beautiful country, with lovely people. All the best for Nepal. I would love to go back someday.
In April 2014 I went to Nepal, on my own. I took the plane to Kathmandu and my plan was to hike the Annapurna Circuit. The Annapurna is one of the 8000m peaks and 8091m high, also one of the most dangerous mountains to climb up.
I went to the institutions in Kathmandu to apply for the permits (ACAP entry permit and TIMS registration card), which took about 2 hours. In Kathmandu most tourists stay in „Thamel“, which is a crazy tourist area where you can shop everything, especially trekking and mountaineering gear. On the next day I catched the bus to Besisahar, the starting point of this beautiful hike. I did not hire a guide, nor a porter as I wanted to be independent. I can highly recommend the „Rother Wanderführer“, which helped me a lot to stay on the right route and be safe.
I stayed another two days in Pokhara to relax. The Annapurna Circuit was an awesome hike and truly a wonderful experience to hike through the Himalaya. I met awesome people and would love to go there again. Maybe one day to hike around Mount Manaslu…

This guy reminds me of a person from „Pirates of the Carribean“. He wanted to have a look through my guidebook and suddenly found a picture from his mom inside. At that time she was working in the garden. A special moment. My buddies from that trip. Torge, Eric, AmaiaPlaying children. People were so nice and welcomingMy guesthouse room, for one night. Very basic but lovelyA typical „lodge“ or guesthouse. This trekk is also called as „teahouse trekk“. I missed you so much! The high camp is a bit more up, but it is also possible to stay in this lodge in Thorung Phedi and leave early in the morning to go up to Thorung La (5418m) and reach Muktinath on the other side still on the same dayI spent two nights in this very comfortable place, to acclimatize. People can hire a yak guide and ride on the yak up to Thorung La. There is also a bus, but the drive is very exhausting and takes a full day. I was lucky there was still a seat available and the plane was allowed to fly, as it always depends on the weatherHello Pokhara. How amazing it was when I got out of the plane and realized it was hot! From 7 to 30°C. First thing I did was getting out of my down jacket
